Weddings are monumental days, not only for brides, but also for mothers. Your mother may have even been dreaming about this day longer than you have! At Weddington Way, we want your mother to look just as spectacular as your bridesmaids, so our stylists have selected their top picks for stylish mother-of-the-bride gowns. Plus, enjoy a special 10% discount using code: WWMOTHERSDAY. Offer ends 11:59pm PST Tuesday, 5/15/12.
BLACK-TIE EVENING
For a reception in a formal evening setting, opt for heavier fabrics like satin or dupioni to add richness and texture. A long gown is perfect for a glamorous black-tie event, and ruching at the neckline or the waist adds interest and style. Carry an elegant clutch, and wear a dramatic bracelet or jewel-drop earrings with a classic up-do.

Left to Right: Alfred Sung Style D493 Quarry Dupioni, After Six Style 6596 in Black Matte Satin, Alfred Sung Style D505 in Barcelona Dupioni
GARDEN PARTY
For springy, outdoor, garden-party weddings we recommend bright cheerful colors with classic, Jackie O-esque necklines. A straight or boat neck oozes timeless style, while ruffles add romance. While updos are always appropriate, loose waves add to the whimsical charm of your look.

Left to Right: Alfred Sung Style D469 in Pearl Pink Dupioni, Dessy Style 2766 in Mermaid Silk Shantung, Alfred Sung Style D523 in Mango Peau de Soie
BEACH SOIREE
Chiffons are ideal for a relaxed beach setting. Embrace aquatic colors with shades of blue and green. If you’re concerned about walking in the sand, a cocktail length dress will be more accommodating, and could be paired with flat metallic gladiator sandals. Wear your hair is tussled waves and use minimal jewelry to let the saturated color of the gown shine.

Left to Right: Lela Rose Style LX112 in Mint Chiffon, Alfred Angelo Style 7193 in Pool Chiffon, Lela Rose Style LX130 in Larkspur Matte Satin
The weather is warming, days are stretching a bit longer, and you’ve just started integrating open-toed shoes back into your wardrobe. All of this can only mean one thing – the return of Wedding Season (otherwise known as Summer)! To help in the planning process, our stylists have chosen their fave dresses, perfect for guest attire at any summer soiree. FLIRTY
If the look you’re going for this summer is flirty, then we’ve got one word for you: ruffles! Whether you opt for soft chiffon or a lovely renaissance satin, we just love the way that ruffles flow in a summer breeze. Pastels are perfect for flirty silhouettes by designers Watters, After Six, and Lela Rose. Pair with sparkly stud earrings and a high bun to make your overall look (and feel) cool and collected.

L to R: Watters Style 9539 in Goldenrod and Candlelight, After Six Style 6611 in Meadow, Lela Rose Style LR157XX in Wisteria.
EDGY
Live on the edge this season by integrating bold colors, asymmetric necklines, and unique silhouettes into your summer wedding wardrobe. We look to Watters for fun combinations of romantic ruffles, sassy belts, and flattering skirts, while Dessy’s uber-convertible Twist Wrap dress delivers on any other look you can possibly imagine (twist, wrap, and tie your way to the perfect dress!). Top off the look with neutral (and very versatile) peep toe pumps or strappy sandals.

L to R: Watters Style 8510 in Peony, Dessy Twist Wrap Dress in Ivory, Watters Style 9256 in Concord.
SOPHISTICATED
Capture a look that says “timeless elegance” this summer with classic silhouettes, structured fabrics, and neutral color palettes. Whether you’re headed to a daytime outdoor celebration or nighttime cocktail reception, keep your look classy and classic with Watters and Wtoo. Try adding a pop of color with bold statement earrings in coral or turquoise, or take advantage of the season’s love affair with neon by toting a fab clutch in your favorite electric hue.

Not sure what your makeup look will be on your wedding day? Stumped about what lip color or eyeshadow your bridesmaids should sport? The Stylist Team at Wedddington Way asked the experts at Blushington Make-Up & Beauty Lounge in Los Angeles for some quick tips on how to get picture perfect make-up for the wedding celebration!

From Weddington Way to Blushington Babe…combine your chosen dress with that special makeup look that will blow people away!
|
| The Morning Wedding |
| The “Morning Wedding”…in keeping with a fresh summer morning, the over all makeup theme can be just that; fresh and shimmery! Clean and fresh faced with shimmery, ivory eyes that will make any bride and bridal party shine! Use Kitten Smudge Pot on the lids of the eyes, smudged out into the sockets (add a little soft brown shadow deep in the socket area and a little to the lash line and blend into the Kitten shadow well) - you can also bring a bit of shadow underneath the lower lash line to add more drama to the eyes! Remember -this look works well with lots of mascara (a waterproof one!!) Keep the cheeks shine and shimmer free – this will make the eyes pop even more! |

| The Afternoon Wedding |
| The “Afternoon Wedding”…the sun has just started to go down and everyone has that golden sun-kissed radiance going on…bronzed skin with peachy cheeks. Bronze the skin where the sun would naturally hit it; the forehead, a little on the nose, cheeks and chin with Stila’s Bronzer in shade 2. Then pat a touch of “Cheekie” Peach by Julie Hewett to the apples of your cheeks (this can also be applied to the lips, which, for this look, works perfectly!) |
 |
|
Featured dress: Dessy 2860 in Apple Slice
|
| The Evening Wedding |
| The “Evening Wedding”…create soft, subtle, smokey eyes to capture evening elegance – remember to prime the eyelid and set it well with powder before applying Black and Brown Smudge pots by Stila – you could also add light silver shimmer to the inner corner of the eyes, like Stila’s All Over Shimmer (shade 1) to really make them pop. If you want a shimmery effect, dab a small amount of shimmer high upon the cheek bones as well! |

Strapless, halter, asymmetric, and classic scoop-neck are all an option – the combinations are limitless! Try mixing it up even more by including several color choices.

Still figuring out your fashion vision for the big day? Why not go with a fabulous vintage look to keep your bridesmaids looking classic yet current! We love the elegant silhouettes, chic designs, and timeless trends introduced by some of the most influential style icons across the decades. Put a fashion twist on your vintage wedding with some of our favorites:
Elizabeth Taylor
It’s hard to think “classic beauty” without thinking Elizabeth Taylor. Here, she wears a simple sweetheart halter with a full skirt and belted waist. Get this same look for your best ladies with Alfred Sung Style D480 in Dove. Pair with a peep-toe pump, chandelier earrings, and a charming up-do.

Audrey Hepburn
Audrey Hepburn is renowned for her quirky charm and incredible fashion sense. At the 1954 Oscars, Givenchy garbed Hepburn in a fabulous high neck, A-line dress with a lovely lace flower pattern and a simple thin belt to accentuate her waist. After Six Style 6631 uses this same silhouette with a penny lace pattern and Matte Satin lining to recreate the chic and stunning red carpet look. Perfect with a strappy sandal and pearls for the big day!

Jackie Kennedy
Jackie Kennedy is a style icon that mastered the art of understated elegance. In classic Jackie fashion, she is seen here wearing a sophisticated full length gown with a boat neck and belted waistline. We love how Alfred Sung Style D477 in Quarry captures this classy style while adding a bit of spice with a matching flower belt detail at the natural waist and pockets (who doesn’t love a dress with pockets?!). Pair with sparkly stud earrings and a sleek chignon for a timeless look.

This past Sunday’s 84th Annual Academy Awards was thrilling for movie buffs and style gurus alike. One thing we couldn’t help but notice was some of the stunning similarities between the stylish and chic gowns that decorated the red carpet and a few of our favorite bridesmaid dress looks! We’re excited to share a few Red Carpet-Worthy styles that are sure to make your ladies feel (and look) fabulous on your big day!
Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth rocked a sleek white one-shouldered Tom Ford gown with a ruched, draped bust and a sheath silhouette. Capture this same chic aesthetic with DESSY STYLE 2799 in Ivory.

Emma Stone
Emma wore a saturated red Giambattista Valli couture gown with a large bow on the shoulder, similar to Nicole Kidman’s Balenciaga Oscar gown in 2007. Emulate this high fashion couture look with ALFRED SUNG STYLE D535 in Garnet Peau De Soie.

Tina Fey
Tina was stunning in a strapless Carolina Herrera dark blue dress, with a peplum and a defined waistband. Spice up the look with cocktail length WATTERS STYLE 8629 in Nightshade.

Stacy Keibler
George Clooney’s main squeeze glowed in a form-fitting gold Marchesa gown. We adored the oversized rosette on her hip! Recreate this silhouette with the dramatic, vintage-inspired ruffle accent of ALFRED ANGELO STYLE 7124 in Cafe.

While some of us struggled to keep warm in the midst of winter, fashion-fiends around the globe flocked to Paris and Stockholm for the unveiling of this year’s Spring fashion. Unfortunately, not all of us could attend the fabulous showings (and who has time to stay glued to the Internet or Fashion TV Network for a whole week?). Whether you are dedicated fashion follower or just looking for a few quick ideas for the big day, you deserve a spot in the fashion loop!
Judging upon the events in Paris and Stockholm, fashion’s seemingly circular pattern has landed us somewhere back a few decades. This year’s fashion straddles the line between classic elegance from the 1950’s and the pronounced textures and shapes from the 1960’s. While we may not all easily afford the luxury of stocking our closets full of designers’ latest, it’s easy to keep a few overarching trends when thinking about bridal fashion for the upcoming months.
Just remember, the fashion theme for this year: striking a balance between perfectly feminine and unabashedly bold.

| The baby-doll makes a comeback! Welcome the spring and summer months with the classic, voluminous baby-doll dress. A full skirt paired with a fitted bodice complements virtually every figure…not to mention, the high-waisted skirt makes legs look a mile long! What we love most about the baby-doll? It’s so easy to personalize—throw on rustic cowboy boots for an outdoorsy wedding, or add some elegant jewelry and great heels for more formal affairs! |
Dare to extend beyond your “color comfort zone.” Spice up bridal party couture by adding a splash of color. Not sure where to start? Keep an eye out for colorful accessories to match the wedding theme—like unique jewelry, fun hair accessories, or even trendy belts. For those who can’t get enough color, consider mixing and matching bridesmaid dress colors to create a look that is perfectly unique. |
Embrace your inner mod with cool prints for those sunny weddings. Although brides may want to stick with the traditional white gown, adding some prints to the bridal party is a great way to add some fun with minimal effort. Plus, the perfect print instantly ties all of your wedding colors together! |
“Aquatic” has been one of the terms thrown around to describe this year’s fashion. As funny as it may sound, aquatic is the perfect word to describe the rise in light, iridescent fabrics and flowing shapes. If you love the look, choose dresses in chiffon and georgette. Those two fabrics will swing and swish as your bridesmaids walk down the aisle. If you are really feeling the ocean-vibe and want to jump in—look for metallic peau de soies and satins. |
Sarah and Sam have been a couple since they went to homecoming during freshman year of high school. Can you get over how adorable that is? We certainly can’t! Their wedding was a mix of staying true to their country roots but also incorporating unexpected glamorous touches. Sarah’s shoes were blingy and fabulous, as was her sweetheart mermaid gown. The diamond detailing on her pumps is stunning. If you are looking to add a little glamour to your wedding outfit without being too glitzy, this works perfectly.
Her bridesmaids wore eye-catching Alfred Sung dresses in Appletini Dupioni on the Big Day, all refreshingly individual and beautiful in the styles of their choice. Their bouquets of brightly colored purple, pink, and yellow wild flowers really popped in the photos and stayed very true to the country theme. Sarah held a humble and tasteful white bouquet.
The Weddington Way team is obsessed with the hay bale photos. It was such an inventive way to incorporate a barn theme into an otherwise elegant affair. The hay bales, arranged in “S & S” for “Sarah & Sam” were a positively brilliant concept for wedding photos. The little pockets of wheat to toss on the happy couple as they made their return trip down the aisle added a ranch touch, as did the pinwheel table setting, freshly pressed strawberry lemonade, and vanilla cupcakes in delicate decorative holders.

We love the chandeliers hanging from the wooden rafters above the dance floor, as well as the groom’s cool suspenders. The bride and groom drove away in an antique truck, a fitting ending to their ranch-chic day. Ladies, if you want an elegant wedding that’s homage to the place you grew-up in, let Sarah and Sam inspire you. They certainly inspired us.
Thank you, Sarah and Sam, for sharing memories from your special, beautiful day with us!

Welcome to our wedding feature for Divya and Ben’s fabulous wedding! Divya and Ben’s Northern California celebration is the paragon of a modern Indian wedding. Ben is the founder of Pinterest, and Divya is a Facebook employee, so it’s no surprise that the wedding was visually striking, with many playful touches. Ben grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, while Divya grew up in Bangalore, India. They met in Washington DC, then decided to head west to California. They wanted to celebrate California’s powerful natural beauty by choosing a forest venue, while combining Indian and Western traditions. The canopy of Redwood trees provided a majestic backdrop to vibrant yellow, orange, blue and gold hues.
 |
For the ceremony, Divya embraced her Indian heritage by wearing a show-stopping gold sari and sporting intricate Mehndi designs on her hands. She wore dainty sling back heels, complete with sequined bows. After the traditional ceremony, she slipped on a modern mermaid style-wedding gown, as well as delicate hair rosettes for her reception.
The many bridesmaids looked exquisite in various styles of Alfred Sung dresses in Ebony peau de soie. They sported a whimsically mismatched rainbow assortment of heels, giving the wedding a light-hearted vibe. Weddington Way loves when bridesmaids don various dress styles, because each girl looks beautiful in her neckline of choice, whether it be a strapless, high, scooped or a cutout silhouette. The gold of Divya’s sari and the rich blue of her bridesmaid’s dresses created a sophisticated color palette that melded with the greens and browns of the trees and foliage.

The orange and yellow marigolds are traditional Indian wedding flowers. They looked elegant suspended around the mandap, or alter. But the marigolds, or ‘genda’ as they are called in Hindi, were fresh and modern as table arrangements, boutonnières, and cake decorations. It’s clear that the couple has a modern outlook and mentality, while being respectful of the time-honored traditions of Divya’s culture.
The couple’s good friend, Andres Montano, designed the adorable graphic wedding invitations, table cards, welcome table decorations, and table numbers. These funky bold designs added flare and pizzazz. Divya’s mother brought back dozens of kites from India to give as party favors, an authentic touch.
Thank you, Ben and Divya, for sharing your stunning and unique wedding with us!

Have all of you seen the latest round of humorous emails and facebook posts around “What Others Think” about professions, cities, people? As a start-up based in San Francisco, we have certainly received our fair share of humorous emails based around “San Francisco” and “Entrepreneurs”! So, we got inspired and made some of our own around “Brides” and “Bridesmaids”. Hope you enjoy!
The 2008 movie 27 Dresses, starring James Marsden and Katherine Heigl, was a hilarious comedy about the trials of being a serial bridesmaid. Although the movie was clearly exaggerated, most women do worry about being obliged to wear gaudy, trendy bridesmaid dresses. Thankfully twenty-first century brides can toss away their worries, and their closet stuffed full of outdated dresses. Never before have bridesmaids dresses been so beautiful, wearable, and timeless. Given the current trend of neutrals like pale pink, cream, camel, and elegant grey tones, one can easily transition from bridesmaids dress to party dress.
Here are a few dresses we find wearable and classic:

| This sweetheart necked, above the knee crinkle chiffon dress will look sophisticated at a wedding with neutral shoes, a gold necklace, and a chic chignon. Transition to a night out with a bold green statement necklace, pink pumps, and long, loose waves. |
This buff colored crinkle chiffon dress will be sweet and ethereal for a garden wedding, with a pink bouquet and rose quartz jewelry. Then pack it for a romantic weekend away, pairing it with gold flats, a cute white cardigan and a floral headband. |
This pale blue dress will look perfect at a Cape Cod Wedding with a pink clutch and pearls. Wear it with simple white sandals, a Lilly Pulitzer scarf, and a ponytail for a champagne brunch, or a stroll around town on a summer’s day. |
The champagne colored luxurious dupioni dress reminds us of Jackie O for its classic good taste. Match it with black patent peep-toe pumps and a dramatic cat eye for a formal city wedding. Break it out for a New Years Eve cocktail party by adding a sexy waist-cinching belt, red stilettos and playful finger waves. |
This gown is elegant and understated, ideal for an evening wedding. Wear it to the opera, or to another wedding as a guest, by pairing it with a colorful jewel drop necklace and a loose, low-set bun, adding a pashmina if it gets chilly. If you’re feeling really brave, have it shortened to a super mini cocktail dress after your friend’s big day. |
As stylists, we keep our fingers on the pulse of all things bridal fashion and look forward to bringing you the best new styles and designers for your big day. We are thrilled to introduce Watters, one of our newest designers! We are simply head over heels for Watters’ sophisticated, chic, and fashion-forward designs.
At the helm of Watters is the lovely, talented, and uber-fashionable Vatana Watters. Watters reflects Vatana’s Thai heritage, along with her design experiences accumulated while living in New York and Los Angeles. Watters is highly recognized for design elements, such as accented belts with embroidered detailing, that are original to the collection. Paying close attention to detail and quality, Watters preserves its commitment to style while being an affordable choice for brides around the world. Watters dresses shine for the big event and truly have a life afterwards!
We love the bridesmaid collections from Watters and Wtoo because they offer a wide selection of glamorous evening gowns and stylish cocktail dresses. Staple silhouettes include strapless sweetheart dresses, v-necks, and square scoop necklines; all of which can complement any figure. Not only do Watters dresses represent stye and design, their construction and fit are impeccable! There are also many fabrics you can choose (such as frost dupioni, shimmery taffeta, crinkle chiffon and, of course, soft satin).

Alfred Angelo brings a new level of sophistication and intrigue straight from – you guessed it, ladies – Hollywood! Twilight anyone? Whether you’re an Edward fan or rooting for team Jacob, don’t feel guilty when your sights shift to the bride-to-be. Bella caught all of our attention when she bashfully appeared in a gorgeous Carolina Herrera wedding gown (a scene sure to be a source of romantic bridal inspiration) in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Alfred Angelo is the only licensed manufacturer authorized to create replicas of Bella’s gown. Just a thought for engaged Twilight enthusiasts!
Alfred Angelo is all about combining uniqueness with popular designs that are meticulously crafted. Always affordable, Alfred Angelo easily satisfies our diverse tastes and proves that high quality doesn’t have to be expensive. To sum it up in our own words, Alfred Angelo is “affordably avant-garde”, which evidenced by the beautiful fabrics, luxurious lace, and eye-catching trains that define the collection.
Here are some Alfred Angelo bridesmaid dresses that beg to be worn by your brigade of best friends on your special “I do” moment.

Remember to tell us your favorite dress on Facebook. Which dresses would you like your girls to wear? How would they wear it? Oh, and if you’re like Bella, we impart some words of wisdom for you before your blissful glide down the aisle. In the words of Alice (Ashley Greene): Lose your aversion to fashion and get creative! Have fun.
At Weddington Way we always aim to keep our finger on the pulse of all things chic and fabulous so our brides-to-be don’t have to. That’s why when we had the opportunity to get first hand style tips from Style Me Pretty editor, Abby Larson and share them with our fabulous brides-to-be, we couldn’t resist! A big thanks to Abby and her team!
Abby’s favorites
If there is one thing we love at Style Me Pretty (and we love a lot of things) it’s variety. A variety of wedding styles, designs, dresses, invitations, flowers etc. dance across our computer screens on a daily basis, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. So it’s obvious we love Weddington Way, with their endless options of gorgeous gowns – it’s every bride’s (and wedding blogger’s) dream. And with bridesmaid dresses being such a crucial layer to the overall wedding design, it’s an oh so important decision in the planning process. So we’ve come up with some of our favorite frocks and paired them up with the style we think they would be wonderfully suited for to show you those pretty layers at work.
 |
The Preppy Wedding
There is something about a preppy wedding that makes my heart flutter, and this gorgeous navy A-lined frock would be the perfect fit to a classically pretty soiree. Preppy parities never seem to go out of style – and there is definitely a reason for that, they are beautiful!

Welcome to our first wedding feature! We have so many gorgeous wedding photos to share with you, and we’re going to kick it off with Kimmy and Alex’s luxurious Southern California soiree.
 |
Kimmy’s bridesmaids wore strapless knee-length Alfred Sung dresses in a champagne colored dupioni silk (Styles D446 & D443). Coco Chanel once said, “a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous” and these girls would definitely have made Coco very happy.
The crystal blue ocean views are breathtaking, and the palm trees add a stylish LA touch. We love the simple canopy at the alter, and the overhang of white flowers and dark green foliage. The filmy white fabric of the canopy compliments Kimmy’s frothy fairytale wedding gown. The pale cream and peach colors of the wedding party and decorations, combined with the piercingly blue sky and ocean, create a refined yet striking color palette.
We especially liked the peach silk bow on the back of Kimmy’s delicate wedding dress. Her bouquet of white flowers with hints of green is simply perfect, and her gold sling-back pumps with structured bows add a Cinderella feel.
|
Moving on to the cake…we are in love! Kimmy and Alex decided on a rice krispy cake. Black and white ribbons are wrapped around the bottom of each of the layers, adding a modern element. The cake is graphic and playful, an unexpected pop to the wedding. The decoration on the third tier of the cake, a black cutout of the bride and groom kissing, mimics the image in the picture frame next to it. This is definitely one of our favorite cakes.
Kimmy and Alex’s wedding is unusual in that it balances a traditional, elegant theme with relaxed elements such as the outdoor venue and youthful cake concept. A big thank you to Kimmy and Alex for using Weddington Way and for sharing your stunning photos with us!
